Hydraulic Rod Repair Work

At Sterling Impreglon Asia, we take pride in our ability to restore critical components to their original specifications using our proprietary Brush Plating Technology. Recently, we were entrusted with an urgent repair job for one of Asia's leading offshore deck equipment manufacturers. The task was to restore a large hydraulic rod, which had developed multiple pittings over time—an issue that could severely affect its performance if left untreated.

As seen in the images, this hydraulic rod required precise and careful attention:

1. Initial Inspection and Preparation: The rod was thoroughly inspected, and the pitted areas were marked and enlarged (without deepening) to prepare the surface for plating. This crucial step ensures the effective bonding of the Brush Plating material. The highlighted pitting in the second image shows the extent of the damage.

2. Application of Copper Brush Plating: Once the damaged areas were prepped, we employed our Brush Copper Plating process. The third image shows how we carefully masked the surrounding areas, ensuring that the copper plating is applied precisely where needed to repair the pittings.

3. Blending and Final Finish: After rebuilding the damaged areas with copper plating, our technicians meticulously blended and smoothed the repaired sections down to the original dimensions, as seen in the first image where the rod is ready for final assembly. To finish, we applied a Nickel Capping, providing the rod with a durable and high-quality surface, ensuring it looks and performs like new.

Dimensional and Level Check: A final inspection ensured precision alignment and adherence to original specifications.

This successful on-site repair not only extended the life of the hydraulic rod but also minimized downtime and saved costs for our client.

Our Brush Plating technology offers several benefits, including:

- Cost-Effectiveness: Repairing damaged components via Brush Plating can save significant costs compared to part replacement.

- On-Site Repair: Our technicians can perform repairs on-site, reducing logistical challenges.

- Long-Lasting Results: The bond strength and adhesion of our plating ensure durability, and the restored parts return to peak performance.
